Seeking:
Cliton:
Comic servant to Dorante who is the play’s Liar. Cliton is blunt, but he is sweet, easily duped, and incapable of telling a lie. Cliton serves as the foil to his master, and reacts with incredulity at his master’s ever-bolder lies. Major supporting role for a young clown. Mid-20s to mid-30s.
Clarice:
An ingénue with spunk. Charming, pretty, poised, confident. She is engaged to be married, but is not above entertaining the affections of Dorante, the new man who just arrived in town. In her 20s.
Alcippe:
Secretly engaged to Clarice. Alcippe is a good-looking guy –a jock. He is passionate, with a famously volcanic temper that explodes when he thinks that Clarice has been unfaithful. He is really a softie, though, beneath all the bluster. Mid-20s to 30ish.
Philiste:
Alcippe’s friend. Philiste is a dandy - he’s modish, wealthy, proper, hip to the newest fashions. But this stylish aristocrat has a shocking secret: he's in love with a servant! Mid 20s-30ish. NOTE: This actor will MOST LIKELY also understudy the title role. |
